The Story Behind the Craft

My love of jewellery began with an early fascination with the colour and form of stones. My designs are born from the tension between two elements.  Combining the architectural and the organic, I use silver, mixed metal and beautiful and unusual stones to design and create unique and distinctive pieces.    Some stones are irregular with flaws or markings and have been chosen for these specific qualities.

Although some themes recur,  each design is still identifiably different. All my pieces are hallmarked as 925 Sterling Silver unless otherwise stated (antique Chinese silver pieces for instance).  Some of my work is created using the lost wax process.

Each piece I make is one off because many of the designs are made in response to the unique qualities of individual stones. I do not resize rings (unless they are adjustable) since this would mean removing and replacing stones however it is possible to alter some bracelets if the designs allow this. With rings and bracelets that are purely metal (silver/silver and brass) it is occasionally possible to make more than one although they will still have small differences – this is part and parcel of the hand made journey.

For me jewellery is more than decoration - it is a visual celebration of beauty and individuality - of both the piece and the wearer.
