Cleaning Your Jewellery
We recommend that you use a polishing cloth for both plain silver pieces and for silver and mixed metal (normally brass). Both metals will tarnish in contact with air but a quick buff with a polishing cloth will restore the shine. For gem set pieces you can also use a cloth but be very careful around delicate areas (settings/claws etc) as it is relatively easy to damage these. Oxidised silver will become shinier over time losing some depth of colour but gaining an attractive patina – this is normal and part of the character of the piece.
Do not use chemicals to clean your jewellery as this may damage stones and cause discolouration to the jewellery.
Storing Your Jewellery
Store your jewellery in a jewellery box or in a cool and dry place. Store pieces separately in soft, padded compartments or pouches. This will prevent scratches, tarnishing and tangling of links or earwires.
Wearing Your Jewellery
Don't wear jewellery when showering or swimming as contact with water and chlorine will cause damage. Skin and hair products such as perfumes or any creams or lotions should be applied and allowed to dry before putting jewellery on, as they will cause tarnishing and discolouration.
Remove your jewellery before going to the gym or participating in any type of exercise.
Many of the stones and settings used are selected for their aesthetic design appeal and while some (plain cast silver rings for instance) will be suitable for everyday wear others (large slab stone set rings/delicate bracelets) will not be suitable for prolonged wear and tear so please treat your pieces with respect in order to preserve them. All gems are graded according to the Moh scale of hardness with the hardest (Diamond) being a 10 and very hard to damage. This doesn't mean that those at the lower end are unsuitable – they just need to be treated more carefully.
